Japan's earthquake hits global markets

First, our hearts goes out to Japan at this time. Hope they will really get over this soon.
Early estimates suggest the disaster could cost insurance companies in the country close to £9.3 billion. The earthquake is already causing a ripple effect on the world economy.
Hundreds of bodies have been found in the coastal town of Sendai. Millions are in the streets as rail services have been cancelled despite orders to stay at home. Already, 1000 people have been confirmed dead while 539 are injured.
Several individuals and organisations have been showing their concern with Pope Benedict XVI saying he is deeply saddened by the events. The United States suggest the earthquake and tsunami could have been caused by the moon as it approaches its closest point to earth in 10 years in what they call a 'supermoon' saying the 2005 tsunami was two weeks before another 'supermoon'.
The earthquake (8.8 magnitude) is the biggest in Japans history and one of the five strongest on earth in over 100 years.
